iPod shuffle: The First Music Player that Talks to You
The World's Smallest Music Player
To create the world's smallest music player, we moved the controls from iPod shuffle to the earphone cord. This makes iPod shuffle smaller than ever, and the controls are right where you can reach them. So when you want to play, pause, or skip to the next tune, you don't have to fumble for your iPod shuffle--just follow the cord and press a button.
The First Music Player that Talks to You
VoiceOver will surely be the next big hit on your iPod shuffle. Say you're listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist. Just press a button, and VoiceOver tells you. You can even hear the names of your playlists. And when your battery needs charging, VoiceOver tells you that, too.
Easy-Access Controls
The controls are located on the right earphone cord. With command central strategically placed in this more convenient location, you can navigate your music--and activate the VoiceOver feature--without taking your eyes off your run, your ride, or whatever you're doing. iPod shuffle includes these easy-access controls, but you can also use headphones with similar controls from manufacturers like Scosche, Klipsch, V-MODA, and Belkin.
Your Music Library ... to Go
iPod shuffle is now available in both 2 GB and 4 GB capacities. So you have plenty of room to store hours and hours of music--up to 1,000 songs with the 4 GB model.2 That's a load of essentials for your workout or commute. And there's room for multiple playlists and audiobooks, too.
Multiple Playlists
You've probably made multiple playlists in iTunes. One for your commute. One for the gym. One for just chilling out. Now you can sync playlists on your computer with iPod shuffle, and play the perfect mix for your activity or mood. VoiceOver tells you the name of each playlist, so it's easy to switch between them and find the one you want without looking.
Let's Talk Color
The anodized aluminum enclosure makes iPod shuffle sleek and durable. It's even more colorful in gleaming pink, blue, green, black, or silver. And making its debut: the special edition iPod shuffle in polished stainless steel (Talk about rock star treatment). Even the iPod shuffle clip rocks. It attaches securely to your shirt, jacket, workout gear, and backpack, making iPod shuffle the perfect fashion tech-cessory. And yes, there's still room for personalized engraving.
Multiple Languages
A French love song. A Spanish bolero. An Italian cantata. Your music library has songs from all over the world. That's why VoiceOver speaks 20 different languages. So it can tell you song titles and artists in the correct languages.
To Shuffle or Not to Shuffle
The shuffle switch has three positions. Flip it to the left, and you'll hear your music in a refreshingly random way. Flip it to the middle, and your songs play in order. Or flip to the right to turn iPod shuffle off.

Not for runners
I don't understand why they bothered to advertise this product for runners or any athletes. I live in a low-humidity climate (Central Coast California, near Cupertino!), am a low-sweat runner, and the minute one little drop of perspiration gets on the controls of the headphones (which are, unfortunately, built into the right ear bud and drop right next to my neck/ear area!) the whole unit acts funky: volume gets too loud or too low to hear anything, or repeats the name of the song over and over again, and sometimes just stops functioning at all. When that happens you can kiss goodbye any thoughts of controlling the player for the rest of your workout and until the device drys out a day or two later--why did they take controls off the device? Stupid, stupid, stupid. I had an original gen iPod shuffle for three years that I ran with (I sweat all over it, but I bought a cheap plastic sleeve to put over it, so it lasted). I bought this iShuffle to replace it, and to avoid carrying around a more expensive iPod (which I was told by an Apple rep should not be used for running, because that's how the big ones break). Anyways, a complete waste of my money. This thing is useless to me!

I love my shuffle.
I wanted a simple device with good sound - this was it! The shuffle is easy to use; the music was easy to load, and the functions are basic and simple. I love this shuffle. When the shuffle was first recommended to me by a friend it was the third generation - I didn't get around to buying one until the fourth generation came out, and I'm glad. I'm getting twice the storage for a really great value. The ear buds do not feel very secure when I'm wearing them, it could be the shape of my own ear canal, the left bud likes to pop out easily. The sound quality is amazing, and the range of volume is great. I also wanted a device that could double as a car stereo; however I was disappointed that my old AM/FM radio in my car didn't work very well for this purpose. I purchased a wireless transmitter to broadcast my recorded music from the shuffle and the sound quality is terrible. I tried several brands and none of them are satisfactory. I still recommend the shuffle for it's durability, recording capacity, size, quality, and value.

DISAPPOINTED IN THE PASCKAGING FOR THE $$$$$$$$$$$
i love the product but was extremely disappointed in the packaging for the money invested

Surprisingly Poor Quality
It looks like most people are having the same problems. 3rd time to the Gym it quit working, mostly appeared to be the poorly crafted headphones. As near as I can tell it doesn't hold a charge well. Between the sucky iTunes software (at least in the basic respect) and the poor quality of the shuffle, I'm hesitant to buy anything apple.

Useless device - will break on your first workout
Shame on Apple for putting out something untested. The headphones control breaks one mile into your first run / 10 minutes into your workout. Since there is no other way to control your ipod's sound or forward songs, it becomes useless immediately. Replacement headphones from apple have the same issue. The Belkin and other adopters that correct the problem, fall apart within a week of use. I wasted trying to find solutions for this device. Now I own a Zune and it works great. I will never buy another iPod again.
